Hi, I’m Nikhil Reddy, a student at the University of Chicago studying Economics and Cognitive Neuroscience. My passion for healthcare innovation comes from both personal and professional roots. My family in India runs a hospital, and growing up, I was fascinated by how healthcare decisions rarely have an objective “right” answer. They’re a constant balance of tradeoffs between access, quality, and cost. And when thinking about this, I identified two things:
- 1) Students and early professionals aren’t that tied to healthcare. Most entrepreneurs in the space don’t get into it until at least their late 20s, and there’s huge burning need for this knowledge of life sciences and health policy to be democratized.
- 2) Most podcasts explore topics from biotech or insurance in just a single episode. However, you can’t provide a complete perspective on something as complicated and intertwined as health insurance in 30 minutes.
So, through the Healthcare Theory, our goal is to share and dive straight into exploring the debates that founders, policymakers, and researchers go through behind closed doors. We’re unique for diving into different areas in a serial format – dedicating 6-10 episodes to a “single” category – to get a complete and thorough perspective at a digestible level.
